I once was an avid player of the MMORPG Ragnarok Online. I started playing I think in 2003. I gained a few friends online and that was the reason why I got hooked. However a few months after I started, I stopped playing the game for financial reasons - the game was eating most of my allowance. I was in the Chaos server back then.

A few years later, news spread that Level Up Games would open up a new server which was free to play. This server was called pRO Valkyrie.

Seeing that all that I needed was a computer with decent specs plus good Internet connection
, I jumped in on the bandwagon and created a new character in the pRO Valkyrie Server.

I was quite enjoying myself playing the new Taekwondo character. A week of being in addict mode, I reached level 75. I was leveling at the map above Lighthalzen because that’s where hordes of Metalings reside. Why Metalings at level 75? There was this event that made formless monsters give out x2 exp. Having no equipment except for a hat, Metalings were my best choice. Plus I have some Field Manuals handy.

Now one day, when I opened my account, I was in this unfamiliar place. There are no portals to exit to. There were other characters however their behaviors seem inhuman… bot-like. That’s when I realized I was in some sort of jail for 3rd party software users. “WTF?! But I wasn’t using any! Why am I here?!” So I filed a ticket. A few weeks passed by and nothing happened so I decided to take matters into my own hands.

The technique that I used here needs a lot of patience. This may also seem like worth doing only for people who have already invested a lot of real Php for the game or for those who already have high level characters but were jailed.

I also want to let the readers know that I used this technique last November 2007. I do not play Ragnarok Online anymore so I’m not really sure if Level Up Games have already done something about it. Without further ado, here’s how to free your character from the clutches of Hugel Prison.

Breaking Free

I really had no intention of sharing this information with anyone because I might still be able to use it in the future. But since I don’t have any plans of playing again, sharing this information seems to be a good idea.

This jailbreak was inspired by the series Prison Break. And just like in that series, you will also need a Michael Scofield. True to this I created a new account and created a new character and named him MScofield. The sole purpose of this character is to free my main(jailed) character.

Now my character MScofield was a merchant. But you could choose other faster leveling characters like a thief or a mage. I chose the merchant class since I will be needing money later on for the success of the prison break. I leveled up my merchant until it can hold its own against Metalings. By this time I had my OC/DC to 10/10. I then bought a 100 Level Up Games load, converted them to RoK points, bought the packs for the Gunslinger, overcharged it to the NPC - voila! Instant money!

So what are you going to do with the zennies you have? Bribe the GM! That’s it!… No that’s not it. What you need to do is go to Prontera and put up a sign that says, “B> EDP” At this point, some of you may already know what I’m trying to do. Well, you can actually skip this if you already have a source for your EDP.

Now I purchased 5 EDP bottles. I put it in the inventory of MScofield and went to the map on top of Lighthalzen where hordes of Metalings lay. This is the hardest part of all. I needed to level up MScofield and act like a bot. The purpose of this is to let the GMs capture MScofield and have him teleported to Hugel Prison. Two days of acting like a bot, at last I was in Hugel Prison. The moment of truth. Using the laptop of my friend, I opened my other account. I gave 1 EDP bottle to my main character and then let him drink it. In an instant, he was dead. After clicking on Return to Last Saved Point he was back to the save point in Lighthalzen FREE as a bird! I left MScofield inside Hugel in case anything goes wrong again.

Summary of the Guide:

1) Create new account, new character

2) Find ways to have zenny/ EDP bottles

3) Keep EDP bottles in the inventory of the new character

4) Go to a map where GMs or MPs are active

5) Act like a bot and let the authorities catch you

6) Once in Hugel Prison, open two instances of Ragnarok Online

(One for your main character and one for your new character)

7) Give EDP to main(jailed) character

Let the main character drink the EDP

9) Character is dead, return to last save point

10) FREE AS A BIRD

Unfortunately, this technique is not 100% effective for Sin X. You may need more than just one EDP bottle to succeed.

For those who have not experienced being jailed yet, it would be good to let your main character hold on to a bottle or two of EDPs just in case.

If anyone working for LU! Games is reading this, %*^&#$ you! It’s because of your bad service that people are leaving Ragnarok Online. You jail innocent people while guilty players run free. Pahirapan pa ang pagpasok sa game… Those were the problems I encountered before I stopped playing. I don’t know if these problems still exist but I’m pretty sure that the pRO Valkyrie server still experiences problems and will continue to experience problems unless LU! Games cleans up their act.
