AMD Sempron 2600+

1 GB RAM

80 GB Hard Disk

DVD/CD RW

17″ Monitor

It may not be the best and most powerful computer rig out there but it did what is was supposed to do almost perfectly. It has served me well for the last 5 months unfortunately I had to let it go. I had to give it to its rightful owner.

This is the reason why lazygoy.com has become dormant for the past few days. I do not have a computer to work with. For the last few days, I have been trying to revive my old computer. I need to do this in the least possible time since 1) The computer in my mother’s room needs a server and 2) I NEED A COMPUTER. After evaluating the PC’s specification, I opted to reunite with the penguin - instead of using the Microsoft Windows Operating System, I decided to use Linux.

Installing Linux

My first encounter with Linux was more than 10 years ago - more or less I was just 13 years old. Installing it was a pain in the ass since drivers for my hardware needed to be coded and compiled manually. But this time, installation was amazingly quite easy. I popped in the CD in the optical drive and the installation went on by itself automatically. Three hours later, Linux was already running on my PC. Except for the third-party NIC, all of the hardware were detected probably because everything is already included in the kernel. Since my NIC is still not working and my mum needs the Internet connection ASAP, I went out and bought a router. So as of now, the current specs of my computer is:

Operating System: Linux

Processor: Pentium II MMX

Hard Disk: 4 GB

RAM: 64 MB

Optical Drive: CD-ROM Drive

The hard disk fails every once in a while but all in all, everything seems to be going smoothly. So… that’s it. I’ll be abstaining from playing any MMORPGs and other games for now. As to when I’ll be able to get a new rig, I still don’t know yet. But as of now, I just plan on using this computer and make the best out of it.
